The CAF game

What a long, exhausting day.

loring park

I tried to call the IRS for a clinic client three times today. The first two IRS agents refused to talk to me because I don’t have my CAF1 number yet. They wouldn’t let me fax my power of attorney and special order, claimed not to have access to fax, and it was just ridiculous.

A third agent looked me up and then transferred me to wonder woman. The skies opened up and angels sung a Beyonce medley. Wonder woman looked up my information, located my CAF number (which was apparently already assigned) and then helped my client out. This only took about an hour and a half.

I spent the rest of the night writing client memos in ProLaw and clocking my time in 6-minute increments like a good future lawyer. I was exhausted when I stumbled into my apartment, but at least there was a drooling bullmastiff to greet me when I came home…

1Centralized Authorization File. It’s essentially an ID number assigned by the IRS.

This was a paperwork week  despite a lingering phone-tag subplot with the IRS. I pulled two 10-hour days at work this weekend because the clinic hijacked the beginning of the week.  Next week will be more balanced (it better be!) I did get some social time in. On Friday, Alesus, Richy, and I went to Jetset bar. The DJ played Video Phone without me requesting it, which made my night. […]
