I was trying to find images of overheated Rottweilers when I found your post — Wow, even in MINNEAPOLIS it gets too hot for Rotties in the summer? I have two 1 1/2 year old rotties and we live in Charlotte, NC. My husband was outside building a deck all afternoon and of course the dogs wanted to be right there with him. He kept throwing the tennis ball for my male (princess puppy is nowhere near as ball-obsessive as he is) and when they all came in at 5 PM I was alarmed that my male rottie was panting so furiously he could barely breathe and his heart felt like it was going to pound right out of his chest. I gave him water, wetted his fur, and turned the ceiling fans up to full speed and he gradually recovered. I’m just trying to find some warning signs so that next time we can get the dogs in the house before the heat gets to them so badly.
