It is pool season in Dallas again, and that means it is time for tropical cocktails.
This Sunday we had a large grill-out at the iLume Park pool (before the National Showman Pageant) and we got tropical.
Although the go-to tropical drinks are typically rum-based, I decided that it was time to give Smirnoff Coconut a try.
How to Make a Smirnoff Coconut Cocktail
One of the things that I hate about coconut drinks is that they went to be overly sweet.
That is why I wanted to keep the flavors of this cocktail relatively clean, and the ingredient list light:
- 2 shots of Smirnoff Coconut Vodka
- 1 shot of orange juice
- 1 shot of cream
- Fill with Diet Sprite (or the coconut’s water)
Tip: Skip the Coconut.
Although coconut bowls make for a completely obnoxious fun presentation, they are a pain-in-the-ass to create. Namely, because cracking a coconut isn’t easy if you don’t have a special saw.
Savagely smacking a coconut with a hammer is also not something I would advise doing after brunch. Luckily everyone survived (for the most part.)
Also note that coconuts are almost twice as expensive at Whole Foods than they are at Kroger.
Coconut drama aside, these were a great addition for a lazy Sunday Funday.
