Capital Pride

Capital Gay Pride Washington DC

We finally made it to a gay pride event!

Washington D.C. / Capital Gay Pride was last week. It was our first gay pride in over a year because we moved to D.C. last August, which is after Capitol Pride but before Dallas Pride.

D.C. Pride was alright — the parade seemed to go on for hours and the bars weren’t that much busier than a typical weekend.

We didn’t have the energy for the special parties, so we stuck to the parade and a few of the usual bars (which isn’t the worst way to do pride.)

My mom also flew into town for the weekend.

This was mom’s first time back since her unexpected hurricane visit. It was nice to be able to show her different parts of the city now that I am more familiar with it. (I also think it’s my turn to visit Miami next.)

Pride will be a very different experience next year because we are leaving Virginia and officially moving to the District next week. I’m excited to experience going out in the District without the commute time and the Uber bill. We may even become ambitious and throw a pride party next year.

Pride was also a little stressful because I try and get some work done on the weekends. That meant cramming more billable time into the week, but the trade-off was worth it. 🌈
