One month of Remote Work

Working from home in Ivy City.

The past month of working from was less disruptive and far more mundane than I expected.

I used to work from home full-time at Thomson Reuters, so I am used to the early morning dog walks and days spent in front of the monitor. The time that I save commuting is mostly lost to an increased number of webinars and emails, but the fridge access is worth it.

Unlike during the “before-times,” there are very limited post-work options beyond more dog walks and painfully awkward trips to the grocery store. However, I’ve mostly declined the digital social invitations that keep cropping up, opting instead to spend my time outside. While it’s nice to see people, the last thing I want to do is spend even more time on Zoom. Messaging is way easier and less obtrusive anyway.

Perhaps my mind will change as this physical distancing period goes on, but for now, I’ll save the bulk of my screentime for work and hoard my “free time” for extra dog walks. 🐾
