It is hard to believe that I’ve been back in Dallas for an entire year.
The theme of the past year has been resilience — we moved across the country during the height of the pandemic when things were extremely uncertain. Would we get sick? Lose our jobs? Would Dallas be as awesome as we remembered it?
Aside from the big freeze, everything turned out okay (but it could have easily been different).
The delta variant and evolving back-to-office plans have introduced a fresh wave of uncertainty, which I am pretty good at dealing with at this point. However, because I am going to have to eventually show up at an office (or hearing), a big project in the coming weeks is sticking to stricter eating and exercise regimen.
Fast food was relatively hard to come by in DC because I didn’t have a car and there were plenty of healthy-ish fast-casual options. Whereas in Dallas, Whataburger and Braum’s are right up the street. Also, in DC, I biked to work and spent most weekends walking around the city, but I have to be far more intentional about exercise in Dallas.
Working from home combined with 100-degree days makes it extremely easy to be completely sedentary throughout the week. I managed to work-from-home and not be a complete sloth last time I lived here in Dallas, so I know it can be done. Time to put that gym membership to use! 💪
