Moving Spreadsheet Template

A spreadsheet of cities that I may move to.

I’ve been in Dallas for about 6 months, and I am still thrilled with my decision.

Many of you remember that I made the decision to move using a spreadsheet. I figured out what was important to me in a city and simply ran the numbers.

This approach to moving had several benefits:

  1. It forced me to prioritize which factors are were important to me in a city.
  2. It provided a structure for thoroughly researching the cities that I might move to. Specifically, it forced me to look at neighborhoods, rents, commuting time, etc.
  3. The spreadsheet also made me comfortable with my decision to move because the decision wasn’t based on random assumptions or someone else’s opinion of a city.

Several people have asked me to create a template, so here it is.

Let me know what decisions it helps you make!

Hi there! I’m trying to download your spreadsheet template but it keeps showing up as a one page word document that explains how to use it – and it’s not actually including the actual spreadsheet. Would you mind sharing it with me? lindseyburdick47@gmail.com
    Thank you!!

Why are some using 1-10, and others 1-5 and 1-3? How should I assign factors, in your opinion?
