In addition to stumbling upon Fiesta DC, we intentionally went to D.C. Brewfest this weekend.
The festival was at the Bullpen, a venue near Nationals Park. It was a good time because we were with friends, but I don’t think any of us will go again next year — an “unlimited beer tasting” special isn’t worth it when the lines are 30 minutes long.
I was underwhelmed by the service: The festival workers told us that they were intentionally short-pouring customers so they would have more beer left for themselves afterward. In one line, I saw a festival worker finish the last of the drinks on his own before telling customers that he ran out.
The earlybird tickets for the DC Brewfest were $35 each, but the lines were so long that we ended up ordering off-special cocktails from the vendors. Ultimately, the event ended up being far more expensive than just going to a regular (gay) bar, but the change of pace was nice.
