Continuing our tour Dallas drag brunches, we went to All Tea, No Shade drag brunch today at The Free Man Cajun Cafe & Lounge in Deep Ellum.

The Details
Location: The Free Man is at 2626 Commerce St, Dallas, TX 75226. The restaurant is at the edge of Deep Ellum right next to the highways.
Parking: There are plenty of meters and a very cheap pay lot across the street. (We parked in the lot).
Time: This drag brunch happens every Saturday and runs from noon to 3 pm, with a showtime around 1 pm.
Cost: There’s a $10 cover for brunch, taken at the door.
Food: Cajun and general American food. There didn’t appear to be any drink or food specials.

The Gist
Overall, this was a very solid show at a great venue. This was one of the best produced brunches that we’ve seen in Dallas because every performer had ample time on the mic and there was a lot of audience interaction.
The DJ also served as a hype man who interacted with the drag queens and inserted funny noise effects in throughout the show. The drag numbers were smartly divided by contests, WAP challenges, and lip sync roulette.
There were a few glitches mostly related to advertising — getting information about this brunch was a chore because this show made many of the mistakes discussed here. We didn’t even know that the show existed until we saw a video posted by an acquaintance.
Specifically:
- It’s hard to get information about the show because the restaurant’s website only links to a Google calendar event.
- The advertising does not keep up with the rotating cast. Are we getting Kennedy Davenport? Bleach? Who knows!
- If there’s a reservation system, it is unclear.
- Drink or food specials? No one knows.
Advertising aside, the show is solid and worth a visit. Toot!
