Compromise. I didn’t buy a $700 SLR, but snagged the Nikon Coolpix (s550) instead. The camera, memory card, insurance, tax & etc came to about $250. Vöt!
While price was an issue, the biggest problem I had with the SLRs was their size. I can’t imagine actually toting a SLR around, “Wait guys! Let me take a picture for my blog! Let me just pull out my ungainly camera!”
And of course the first thing I had to do with my new camera is the campus mascot.
