So it was a confusing story, but apparently the mother of the kittens was killed by a raccoon, who was killed by a possum.
Halvers rescued the kittens, and then one of his coworkers caught the possum in a trash can.
Animal control refused to come out to get the possum because it was caught in an urban area.
Coworker: “So what should we do with it?”
Animal Control: “Kill it!”
Coworker: “Kill it? Uh, how? We aren’t allowed to discharge firearms on the property.”
Animal Control: “Just put a hose in the trash can and drown it.”
The coworker was horrified.
They eventually made an intern drive the possum to the exurbs and release it.
Stay classy, Minneapolis animal control.

January 3, 2011 at 11:07 pmLast summer, a male deer got inside our backyard fence and died. When we called animal control, they gave this response: put the deer in a plastic bag and take it to the side of the street! This was a 4 point buck over a 100lbs.
How did your dogs react to the kitten? Did they want to chew it up?
