The law school graduate-level electives outside of the law school. I’m enrolled in Weimar Cinema.
So far we’ve seen The Doll, The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari, and The Wildcat. The words bizarre, cute, and random come to mind.
Tonight we watched Nosferatu, which is based on Dracula (they couldn’t get a license to use the name Dracula.)
Yeah, totally getting nightmares tonight.

February 9, 2011 at 8:22 amI remember watching Nosferatu on TCM one night. The host, Robert Osborne, mentioned the issue of naming rights and why the movie wasn’t called Dracula. Given the state of technology, I was impressed how the director dealt with certain scenes. Instead of showing a lot of details and making the movie campy, he left many things to the viewer’s imagination.
I guess you all will be watching Metropolis, too?

February 9, 2011 at 8:57 amMetropolis is on the list! Haha. Another interesting thing about the movie is that this was shot before cameras could really move, which makes the setup of scenes way more challenging.
And I love how just changing the names was enough to avoid a copyright issue.
