I discovered that the dog gets a little camera shy! This is incredibly convenient when I want him to stop staring at me when I’m eating:
Oh, and that is his kennel in the background! The kennel is under a table with a patterned table cloth. This makes the kennel invisible on those rare occasions where I actually shut the door.
99.54% of the time it’s as awkward as it looks in the video.
As I say in the video, I though driving on a lake was absolutely crazy…so when I saw this on the fail blog last night I felt vindicated. Me (to Jamie): “SEE? SEE? That could have been us!” Jamie: “Eh, that only happens at the beginning or end of the season…”
Ermp. Okay.
A Minnesota Court of Appeals has cited a youtube video in an unpublished opinion.
The case is about a 14-year-old gymnast who tried this:
The girl (of course) landed on her head, was injured, and sued.
Now, it’s hard to explain the complicated vault, so this is what the court did:
Goetz began participating in gymnastics programs when she was five or six years old, and it appears from the record that she is a fairly skilled gymnast. She attempted the difficult Tsukahara vault for the first time in the autumn of 2001. When performing a Tsukahara vault, a gymnast runs along a long mat, jumps off a springboard, does a half twist, pushes off a pommel horse with her hands while upside down, does one and a half flips, and lands on her feet facing the horse.1
[….]
1 The school district cited a video of Mitsuo Tsukahara performing his namesake vault at the 1976 Olympics. See http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8TmYqSOYZr0 (last visited Dec. 16, 2008). Goetz did not object to the citation. We found the video to be helpful.
I think this is brilliant. It would be terribly convenient for courts to create a youtube channel that contains videos of pertinent material, including depositions (instead of transcribing them in opinions)…
…heck, or even Westlaw – “Defendant robbed a bank…see the video here.”
… “Defendant cussed out judge and was thrown in jail for contempt of court…see video here.”
Sure, it might put TruTV out of business, but I still think it’s the business.
Three days of (punishing) desk shifts. 7 hours on Friday, 10 hours on Saturday, 4 hours on Sunday.
Long, dramatic night in the Provence with DG and his stupid new tattoos (that’s right, I called them stupid…for christ’s sake, you got a MUSTACHE TATTED ON YOUR FINGER?! WHO DOES THAT?) There was the Dominican, the “embarrassed” 60-year-old, the twink from Michigan and his Hispanic friend who I was inadvertently rude to, and Karaoke including my rendition of “Feedback” (yes I did).
The storm shutters on the dorm broke, so I had to take the plants to madre’s house. After a political debate with my mom’s drunkard neighbor, I realized that my tire was flat.
South Beach adventures with Lopez. There was the black guy who was SO not Indian, a fight in the Gogo bar, Voguing competition between Flipflop and King Kong, the 80-year-old known as the Grim Reaper (who gives everyone filthy looks), the 6-foot overlarge woman with the blonde Diana-Ross thing going on, and that ever-present looming porn star with the cowboy hat. Why? Why, why?
Finally figured out the RSS thing. I now have a RSS feed of law-student blogs on my Windows Vista Sidebar. Nerdage. I know.
Midnight water fight with JHR and P. We all happen to have supersoakers. One of those bike rent-a-cops stopped us. JHR and I were like, “oh crap!” but P. flashed his student ID and (basically) said “I PAY $32,000 IN TUITION WE DO WHAT WE WANT!” And we went about in our water mayhem.
Briefly had a pornstache for fashion purposes only.
Bought a men’s fashion magazine at Barnes and Noble and was made to feel like I was buying smut.
3am Taco Bell run with Eddie before he went back to Tallahassee.
Subwayman who leers at women’s chests. Ricky and I have discussed this. Ricky says he’s retarded. I just think he’s just a creep. Everyone’s uncomfortable.
Finished Don DeLillo’s “Falling Man” and was incredibly impressed.
Finally put away my laundry instead of tossing it throughout my dorm room like I usually do.
Got my lease and fine schedule from Gamma Eta Gamma. Excitement ensued.
Long walks with Christine. Once to Coconut Grove, another in South Beach (along with watching the Zohan movie). Here is the obligatory tourist photo.
Lots of midnight pacing while listening to the Black Devil, who is trendy at the moment.
Other trendy things in my world include Red Eye, Jeanine Pirro, and this five year old entry on anonymous blogging.
And that’s basically it… I’m on duty this week. I also redesigned memosandmirth.com/. Ta-da!
