Texas is one of the few places in the country without a state income tax. (This was a pleasant surprise when I moved from Minnesota.)

The chart shows that Texas is heavily reliant on its 6.25% sales tax. That’s where 61% of the tax revenue comes from (the highest in the nation). The story is here.
