A day at the lake
White Rock Lake is a massive reservoir about 5 miles outside of downtown Dallas. It is the perfect place for an ambitious morning dog walk. Or so we thought.
The lake was beautiful, but the path was very long.

Flirting with Heatstroke
The trail around White Rock Lake is well over 9 miles. We weren’t intimidated by the length of the trail, but the heat eventually got to the dogs. At one point, we were worried that we would have to Uber back to the car with the labradoodle.
We ended up making it, but I think that our next trip will have to be in the fall.

A Texas-sized Lake
White Rock Lake reminded me a lot of the lakes back in Minnesota, except that it is Texas-sized. Lake Calhoun was about 3 miles around, whereas this was triple the size.
One thing that surprised me about White Rock Lake is that there are no restaurants. Dehydrated and hangry was not a good look.
Next time we’ll come better prepared.
