1L summer / legal humor / overheard

It has always been that way

Jill and I were at the convenience store near the law school. We talked about our summer classes while waiting in line at the register:
Me: “Yeah, people aren’t thrilled with my Professional Responsibility class.”
Jill: “Oh, that’s what I’ve heard! A lot of people really dislike that class. I’m glad I didn’t take it this summer. Hopefully it will be better in the fall…”
Just then the older lady who was standing in line ahead of Jill turns around and says:
Lady: “I graduated from the law school in 73. And trust me, professional has always been a bitch.”
The lady pays and then leaves.
The cashier is laughing.
Jill is shocked.

Me: “That might have been the best thing ever.”

That happened to some friends of mine at Hollywood Video this semester (not about PR, obvs, but something else).
All of a sudden the voice of their professor pipes up from the next aisle over, chiming in on their conversation.
Thank goodness they were ranting about something else other than her 🙂

We knew she wasn’t a professor…but yeah.. lol. As a rule we try not to say things that we wouldn’t mind being overheard.

I’ve had a few of those awkward moments as well. One took place in the presidential polling lines where there were apparently a whole bunch of alums in front of me.

I was reading corps or some such while waiting and they started complaining :p
