This week, I am posting photos of the amazing performers at Nellie’s Drag Brunch. Today’s featured performer is Alexa Shontelle, who is known for high-energy performances, taking her drag show onto the streets in front of the bar, and literally hanging from the ceiling during numbers.
I will never forget the time that I pulled up to Nellie’s in an Uber at the precise moment when Alexa burst through the doors in the middle of her brunch performance. Alexa opened my car door, and instead of finding an unsuspecting cab passenger, she was shocked when I popped out of the car while clacking a fan.
People probably thought it was staged, but that is actually the type of gay magic that only happens at drag brunch.
Alexa’s energetic performances, crowd-work, and chill personal vibe are why she’s loved throughout the District, any why Alexa will always be booked-and-blessed anytime she chooses to perform.
