Picture of the day
Here are the rest of the images of the rowers. The first set is here.
I was trying to take a picture of the plant, but someone decided he (and his junk) just needed to be part of the picture:
I was studying on the couch and got up to get more coffee. When I returned, I found that I had lost my place:
And I realize that it doesn’t look like it, but there’s actually enough room on the couch for both of us.
If I wrote about how I really feel right now, my law school career counselor would probably let out a primal scream and assault me in the hallway.
So, no profanity editorializing – I am just going to state the facts:
Methinks it’s winter now.
Update (post dog walk): so, I officially scrapped tonight’s plans of outlining tax law. Tonight’s new project is teaching Harley how to use a litter box.
The weight of the snow causes mini avalanches from the trees. It feels like the trees are chucking snow down on the sidewalk out of bitterness like “WHY IS THERE SNOW ON ME? I STILL HAVE LEAVES DAMMIT!”
So, I felt like the star of my own video game! I am Super Mario with a golf umbrella and sack of dog poop. The object of the game was to hop around the neighborhood without getting dumped on by the trees. 1up my people!
It was a lot of fun. I take back all my bitching about the snow….which is only getting worse by the way:
Here are some more pictures of the University of Minnesota rowing team (and others). I’m almost finished editing the entire set. Click on the thumbnails to see larger versions.
Harley and I walked around campus today.
We were on the Washington Avenue bridge when I heard some shouting coming from the river: “COME ON! PUSH IT! PUSH IT GOPHERS!”
I looked down and saw the most intense women ever:
You go girls.
And I took a ton of pictures. I’ll edit and post the rest later.

So Aldo is one of my favorite shoe stores at the Mall of America.
One day I decided to go to their website, clicked on clearance, and OH MY GOODNESS is that a $10 pair of pimptastic sneakers?
And gasp, another pair.
And another.
Until…
Oops.
I never have to coax Harley in the car…
…but the amount of time I spend vacuuming is ridiculous.
Harley has an ear infection, which means I have to rinse and medicate his ears daily.
He, of course, is unamused by this:
Harley also attended his first official law school event today. Outlaw, the gay student group, had a picnic and I decided to bring the dog along.
He behaved. People were surprised by how calm he is. I didn’t bother to explain that my dog is, in fact, Joe Cool.
Hey, as long as you’re comfortable.
Things got churchy tonight:
I think it’s too pretty to abut a highway, but the overpass gave a good perch to shoot the church. I finally got a tripod at Wal-Mart, and I was able to take the night shots without awkwardly finding something to steady the camera.
I took the dog along for the shoot because I knew the park would be sketch-tastic at that hour (3am). I was right. There were two goons who tried to approach me but backed off once they saw the Bullmastiff. It would be better if I could get Harley to snarl at people, but that’s not his style. I’m also continually amazed by the cycling culture in Minneapolis. There are bikers every where at all hours, including the park at 3am.
The gas tank was low so I went to the Super America in Northeast. On the way I ran into the Ukrainian Catholic Church (St. Constantine) That’s where the statue is from.
Where I studied today:
They are still getting things together (the paint on the walls was still wet!)
It finally stopped storming, so I fetched Harley and went to the East Bank to study outside.
Harley got very serious about digging a ditch to sit in:
I never have to drag myself to the Walter Library.

Yesterday I mentioned how great the view from the Washington Avenue bridge was. Here are pictures of the walk from the Student Union to the Bridge.
The Minneapolis Gay Pride parade was today. I was at work, but I sent my camera with Gibs.
I’m embarrassed by how funny this was to me:
Stay classy Minneapolis.
The dog’s shedding.
For the past few days I’ve found little tumble-weeds of dog hair all over the apartment. I expected that cacti and cowboy shootouts to materialize any moment…
When I got home today there was a little mound of hair near Harley’s kennel and I had had it.
I looked at the dog and informed him it was on.
So a few minutes later I was wrestling a 100lb dog into the bathtub…and Harley got his first-ever bath.
So yeah. He was not thrilled.
But I’m glad I did it because:
I know. Ew.
But better in the tub than all over the apartment!
