After about 2 months, the coronavirus restrictions still do not feel normal, but I’m getting used to things.
I automatically grab a face mask when heading to the store, the masks littering my neighborhood no longer shock me, and I’ve accepted that weekend brunch will instead be a long walk around town.
None of this feels normal yet… Just inconvenient and mundane.
My newest preoccupation is worrying about offices reopening prematurely and forcing everyone back on the metro. I’m not confident that the train system will be anything other than a vector for disease (It’s crowded and vaguely unsanitary in the best of times).
It may be a virus denier, a prankster, or a mentally disturbed person, but someone will certainly cause a scene during the first week. And given my luck, it’ll be on my train.
For now, we are all still happily working from home and steering the dogs away from the piles of discarded PPE during walks. Hopefully this isn’t replaced by clutching my pearls on the subway anytime soon. 🚆
