We’ve had unseasonably cold weather in Dallas recently — days in the low 40s and evenings in the 30s. Everyone’s pressed, especially Gunter, the Chiweenie.
Gunter hasn’t gone on strike yet and refused to do his business outside (like he did in Minnesota), but after a few minutes outside he’s standing by the edge of the dog park, glaring and shivering.
It was two degrees on this morning’s dog walk, but skidding on the ice with the Rottweiler was hilarious.
This is Logan Park, in Northeast Minneapolis. I love that there’s no shortage of parks in this city – and nice ones too. Not like the First 48 parks we had back in Miami…
The gig’s up. Tomorrow it snows. That means I’m spending as much time outside with the dogs as possible today. I took the dogs on a long hike by the Mississippi.
Minneapolis has a week of 50-degree temperatures, I run around in my funny shoes declaring that spring is here…and we get a snowstorm.
I get up at 6 a.m. to shovel the apartment building’s sidewalks but I run out of salt because I (foolishly) thought that we were done with winter.
So I completely thought we were over this winter thing and then we got another blizzard. Don’t get me wrong, winter is pretty in Minneapolis…
The snow is melting but I still have all these unedited snow-caked pictures! Excuse me while I toss them on the page for the record…
It’s hard to believe now, but there was a time when that massive snow field was water.
Winter is a weird thing. White above, white below, buildings and trees on the horizon.
The newscasters say that this is the coldest week of the year. It’ll reach -20 soon, but we are still jumping around Lake Calhoun.
A historic storm hit Minneapolis last night. There were 60mph wind gusts which made the evening dog walk feel like being simultaneously cast in a Willow Smith video and a dramatic scene from Harry Potter.
The bulk of the storm was last night, but this morning’s commute was still windy and filled with that soggy type of snow that doesn’t stick. Jill caught me running out of the school parking garage in this plague weather.
