The cost of going organic

20lbs. In one month.

I decided to go mostly-organic after being mortified by Food Inc, and things are going well.

I’m still resisting that movie. First Sorority Row. Then Jennifer. Fox can wait.

For me it’s not so much a weight-loss/health thing as a simple gut-reaction to how gross processed food really is. Food INC really ruined fast food for me 😉

That’s great! Some how I am always able to think around things like that. But Fast Food Nation has definitely put me off fast food…for now. I am terrified to watch Food Inc though. My threshold for blubbering right now is so low.

I added to my queue on Netflix yesterday after reading this post. Unfortunately, it won’t be available until November.

I don’t do any sort of ground or chuck meat anymore. Organic Milk (in carton) and most fruits and vegs. I don’t buy organic cherries or grapes because they are offensively expensive. When buying meat I tend to look for things sold “in the round.” I don’t bother with organic chips or pretzels (I just opt not to eat them at all.) And my canned vegs aren’t organic.

Oh, and I love me some Bush’s pork & beans… and those aren’t organic.

Oh for sure. I’ve spent over $10 on cherries. I was horrified but too embarrassed to send them back. I savored those expensive-ass cherries like they were going extinct.

I am curious. Are you shopping at primarily a regular grocery chain or do you go to co-ops/Whole Foods? We are trying to incorporate more organic, but I almost died of sticker shock at Whole Foods (but, Gawd, the deli is so yummy…and the bakery…and the local cheeses).
