The week began quietly enough – I became an espresso snob, creeped the boyfriend out with my mouse catching, and attended my last formal law school class.
And then the “Minneapolis Blizzard of 2010” came.
Sigh.
The snow was so bad that the Minneapolis Metrodome collapsed. My friend Krämer moaned that Minneapolis only makes national news when something collapses, but I reminded him that we are also famous for Prince and recounts.
I completely cleared and salted my building’s sidewalks on Saturday, but everything was re-buried by Sunday morning. Apparently at least one tenant thought I that I had not shoveled at all:
Halvers wasn’t amused by the note.
We spent the majority of Sunday rescuing cars and recovering the sidewalk.
The dogs were outside for the bulk of it.
Apparently the city of Minneapolis didn’t tow for the first snow emergency, but they didn’t advertise that. This is Halvers asking whether his car faced a towing threat:
Turns out that the guy was not a city-wrecker, and that truck just broke down. There was another car that lit itself on fire near Halvers apartment because of wheel-spinning. Epic fail.
We eventually moved Halvers’ car and regained my building’s status of having the clearest sidewalks on the street. Booyah!
After the shovel-a-thon we collapsed inside of my apartment…or at least I did…
I love that smile.
We ended the day trying to watch “The Pelican Brief” on Netflix, but Halvers was so bored with the movie that we have to try again later. He’s coming around to the amazingness that is John Grisham, whether he knows it or not.
Best Week Ever 13: Snow, infatuation.
Best Week Ever 12: Dog days.
