Best Week Ever 15: Interlude

Winter reminds me of why I love Minnesota. The snow and lack of plants highlight how pretty the buildings are:

Winter also makes the dog walks hilarious because the rottweiler loves pummeling through the snow.

The chaos is constant.

There are also the frozen lakes, which Halvers swears he can walk on:

Not so much.

We attempted to walk to some of the floating docks on lake Calhoun today, but the ice cracked about 30-feet away from the shore so I scrambled back to safety.

Apparently the lake is safe to walk on because this guy walked diagonally across the entire lake:

I still think he’s crazy.

That was my first time on a frozen lake since Lake Bemidji during 1L year. It was fun but I prefer not to partake in any unexpected winter swimming.

It was a strange week. I worked on Monday and finished an 8-hour final on Tuesday. This was first “take home” exam that I actually completed at home instead of the library.

Writing the exam at home made me feel like a slacker because I spent the day sipping Americanos in slippers. I tried to put in a few hours at the tax clinic afterward but I felt completely burned out from the write-a-thon.

Wednesday morning started at the office and that afternoon I had a second-round job interview. The next afternoon I had a drill-tastic dentist appointment in which my face was numbed to the point where I felt like Joan Rivers. The tax clinic meeting later that day was hilarious, but the supervising attorney humored my dentist-induced speech impediment.

I didn’t go into work on Friday because I wanted to finish my legal history papers, but the Krämers were pretty distracting at the Spyhouse and any hope for productivity ended once I picked up the boxed wine from school.

A sizable group of us went to Jetset on Friday night. I wanted to introduce Halvers to more of my friends and he managed to get approval from everyone except for the DJ, who sassed him – “We don’t take requests, we take suggestions.”

Hmmf.

They played Whip My Hair and Teach Me How to Dougie, so I guess our suggestions worked.

We  finally saw Black Swan on Saturday, which was an insane movie (and pretty accurately summarized here.) Afterward we hit up Lush, where several people asked about the movie. I’m not sure I can recommend that crazy mess, but Halvers loved it. I suspect I’m right though…

I am excited for the coming week because I will finish these silly papers tomorrow and then winter break 2010 can begin in earnest. Hootyhoo!

Oh sure, blame it on the Rottweiler.
