Dethroned

Public Restroom

So I’m sitting on the toilet at work, trying to ignore the guy in the stall next to me.

The guy in the stall next to me is one of those theatrical public restroom users who is overly-loud about everything he does.

My loud neighbor gets up, kicks the toilet handle with a little “Hi-Yah!” and then barges out of the stall.

The problem is that Mr. Kung-Foo-Fighter slams his stall door so hard that it rattles the entire row of stalls and UNHINGES MY STALL DOOR.

I,
was,
horrified.
Glozell Screaming
And I am in one of those large handicapped stalls so I am NOT close to the door, which is opening, threatening to expose my goods Kim K. style to the entire restroom!

I grab my britches, jump up, and stop the door from completely flying open.

But I am flustered and almost fall on my way back to the throne.

What a disaster.

I went back to investigate the bathroom later.

Turns out that the stall dividers are not connected to the floor and not strongly bolted to the ceiling. So Kung-Foo-Fighter’s door slamming shifted the wall and unlatched my locked stall door.

Ugh. I think I’ll save certain activities for home now.

Update: Jill commented on my horrified facebook update. Apparently this unlatching disaster is a theme in the ladies’ restroom. I’m glad to see I’m not alone.

OK I just LMAO reading this post. Don’t save this activity for home..u just got to know all the good spots for emergency throne sitting.

I have found that the hardware store Loews is the best emergency spot. Very clean and the restroom is hidden in the back.

Suitable backups are also Target and Walmart, but they are not as good b/c the restrooms are placed in the front of the store…still good in a pinch.

You’ll never find love at a MN Walmart…wait, that came out wrong.
