It is finally summer. You can find me outside.
It is finally summer. You can find me outside.
Someone found a solution to last year’s buried-bike problem:
Nothing but rain lately. Ugh.
I run into strange characters during my dog walks. One of these characters is a short man that I always find near the Wedge Co-Op on my morning dog walks to Lake of the Isles.
He usually sits on a retention wall with a large beer can. This is usually around 9am so I guess these are his breakfast beers. This guy continually tries to start conversations with me. I smile and avoid eye contact.
He told me that he is from Mississippi. He just got out of prison and he doesn’t know anyone up here. He also likes rottweilers.
I now avoid that area on my morning dog walks and haven’t seen the felon in a month.
So I was surprised this afternoon when I opened my apartment building’s door and saw the felon and a cracked-out woman. They were lurking by the door, waiting to be let in.
I had already opened the door when I noticed them, so I was screwed. They rushed the door:
Crackella: “Excuse me, I left my shrimp upstairs.”
Orientation training started today, so summer is officially over. Here’s what happened this summer:
May
Summer is fabulous. You can find me at work, biking across the metro area, at cafes, dragging the dogs around the lake, and at home with the new boyfriend, usually watching Jersey Shore or BravoTV online.
During the past two weeks there were also missed apartment showings, foiled robberies, and an usual amount of spoiled food. I also feel perpetually behind in blogging, music production, and laundry. Blame it on the excessive amount of lake time:
It’s late, I’m sweating, and my deodorant has broken down.
It’s summer, and it’s hot. My freshness is compromised.
Earlier this evening, Justin pointed out that it looks like Niagara Falls sprung from my armpits. I flashed a coy smile and wrung my armpit on his sofa… but my freshness woes are for another post…1
Spring semester ended and I started working full time. Things are changing at the office because all of my 3L friends graduated and moved on to bar prep, and a new set of interns took their place. It is exciting to have new coworkers, especially since new interns tend to overdress. They bring glamour to the cubicles.
The increased work schedule is complimented by my increased workout regimen. I skate around the lakes, got organized about lifting weights, and sometimes bike to work:
Week #10 was the last week of summer school, aka, finals! I spent the beginning of the week studying, mostly at the Walter library. After my last final I went to work, and worked 10 hour days for the next 4 days.
I also decided to get health conscious, and just say no to Caribou pastries. That’s also the week I almost ran Jill off the road, and celebrated the end of my first year in Minnesota.
It’s a rainy summer.
The first picture is the flag outside of work. I can only see a segment of tinted1 sky from my cubicle. I think it’s better that my cubicle isn’t closer to the window because office life is already distracting, and I would get nothing done if I could zone out by looking outside.
The roads are iced over, the wind chill can reach to -30, and yet I still see bikers every day.
I’m not as bold. My bike has been parked in the basement for the past month. It’ll stay there until things have thawed.
