We had a little bit of snow in November, but nothing that stuck around. This time, we got about a foot of snow in the District over the weekend, which was apparently a 30-year record.
Although this type of snow storm was nothing special back in Minnesota, D.C. is not equipped to handle snow at all.
The District got its first snow storm of the season today and my dogs have two completely different opinions on the slushy mix.
It’s felt like spring in Washington D.C. for a while now. We’ve had warm temperatures, cherry blossoms, and green grass.
Maybe winter in D.C. isn’t so bad after all…
It’s the last day of a long, busy month.
Dallas kicked off January with a snowstorm — which is what they call any amount of snow around here.
At first, people were in denial that it would snow at all. The snow inevitably came, and then there was a collective freak-out in which people fled downtown to spin-out on the highways (or sit in traffic.)
I was amused by this until I remembered that drivers in Minnesota weren’t much better.
Things have been busy! I’m working some seriously long hours but I’m also getting outside more now that winter is almost over.

The roads in Uptown were a hot mess during the last snow storm. I actually got both parked-in and plowed-in on this street near the Spyhouse Coffee Shop:
Mud season is right around the corner which means dog walks are going to be a mess, …but at least I can run outside again.

In addition to working longer hours, I’m also getting a ton of new interesting projects. For example, this week I am working on my first RFP response, which is highly exciting and challenging. It’s shaping up to be a great spring!
Uh, where the hell did the snow go?
There have been snowstorms to the north, south, east, and west, but somehow it is 40 degrees in Minneapolis.
My Florida friends don’t understand it, but Minneapolis is really pretty during winter.
And the snow came.
That’s the Minneapolis Federal Reserve Bank, one of my favorite buildings. I haven’t seen the Occupy Minnesota protestors out there for a while. Maybe winter has done them in? Anyway, the building looks even better in winter.
The gig’s up. Tomorrow it snows. That means I’m spending as much time outside with the dogs as possible today. I took the dogs on a long hike by the Mississippi.
It’s mid-April, so this is not okay.
And then four hours later, all of the snow is gone and flowers are visible.
What the hell, Minneapolis?
I don’t know what was under there, but I had to yank the dogs away.
Hopefully it wasn’t a body. I watch too much A&E for that…
